Fire and Burn Injuries

A fire in your home is a frightening experience and it pays to plan ahead for what to do in case there is one. Taking steps to prevent fires from starting in the first place, as well as knowing what to do if a fire does start, helps you and your family avoid injury and death. The number of fatalities and injuries caused by residential fires has declined gradually over the past several decades because of better prevention measures, but fires are still a serious public health problem—and a very preventable one.
